It's what I feel when I lounge on my patio or porch in the Summer as I look at my gardens and the flowers that are blooming. It makes me smile when a light breeze sends the aroma of Sweet Alyssum or Sweet Peas drifting through the air. It is so fullfilling seeing butterflies fluttering around the flowers and the occassional Hummingbird looking for some nectar to snack on.
Of course, the garden starts much sooner than the Crocus or Daffodil ~
I have had my garden on my mind for quite some time now ~ planning, planting ... it brings me excitement!
I always receive so many seed brochures and I page through them time and time again daydreaming about having all of those fruits, flowers and vegetables in my own yard ...
My focus has always been on flowers and a few tomatoe plants just for the "fun" of being able to pick a tomatoe and make a nice big sandwich with tomatoe and mayo!
But this year I am branching out and am going to also have a small vegetable garden and I am excited to get started with my Survival Pack from Hometown Seeds.
So now that the flowers seeds are planted and I have signs of ...
It's time to start to start planning my vegetable garden!
If you have never had a garden I highly recommend starting one this year ~ even if it is just a few flowers ... I can not describe in words the gratification it brings.

Judi, I've been planning ALL winter! I don't know about you, but my gardens will never be "done". I'm always moving things around! I wish I could have a vegetable garden, but I don't get enough sun. So I will have to live vicariously through yours this summer!
Happy Monday!

Judi i have already tilled my garden spot. I went out this morning to till a couple of rows to plant some onion sets and spinach for starters but my rope on the tiller was stuck and i am not mechanically inclined. So now i have to wait for sweety to come home and get it unstuck. I have to wait.. Once again.. I have a few flowers i bought and put out, they are petunias, and some others i cant remember their names.. I have azelias and hydrangies puttin on leaves.. I am in the mood for lots of sunshine and roses.. have a great day.
With our saline water, we can't grow much here...some people catch rainwater, we used to...but it's only enough for maybe one hanging basket per year...wah...your "survival garden" sounds so interesting, and the way you have used the old clothespin to mark your seeds is so cute!
I'm excited about gardening just reading your post, Judi!
We are still getting snow, and will through April, but the temps will climb into the 50s this week, and I'm hearing more and more birdsong! :)
Enjoy getting outdoors and playing in your wonderful garden!

Zuzu

Good Morning Judi :)
Have fun planting your garden, I know you are so excited...gardening is so gratifying! I will be planting my annual flowers about the week after Easter...I usually wait until sometime in April, because our spring can be tricky around where I live, (it's sometimes pure crazy) and unfortunately we usually get one more frost just as everything starts to bloom, or at least the last 2 years we have. I've got my fingers crossed, that one more cold freeze won't happen to us this year! I've got some pansies to enjoy, that I planted last fall, and they survive the winter here, so thankfully I've got those blooming away right now...I love them! I would love to try my hand at growing some veggies. Maybe I'll try tomatoes and green onion this year in pots...you've inspired me!
Hope you and your family have a Happy Easter :)
Big Hugs,
Queenie
Yipee is right! Good for you getting a head start on sprouting. I know you are going to have much success with your garden. All the best, :) Tammy
